San Francisco | Part II

Voici la suite des images de San Francisco. Ce voyage est le premier que je fais aux États-Unis et en plus de toutes les jolies choses qu’on a vues, j’ai bien aimé découvrir la facilité de contact qu’ont les américains. On ne l’a pas du tout chez nous et je trouve que c’est dommage. Alors certes, c’est un peu superficiel, ce n’est pas parce que ton interlocuteur te demande comment tu vas que qu’il se soucie vraiment de savoir si tu vas bien mais je trouve que ça rend les contacts beaucoup plus amicaux et sympas. Quand on arrive dans un restaurant ou qu’on monte dans un uber, on nous demande toujours comment on va, d’où on vient, ce qu’on a visité, on pose aussi des questions en retour et on parle de tout et de rien pendant quelques minutes puis chacun repart à sa vie. On en apprend ainsi un peu plus sur la vie de ces personnes que l’on côtoie quelques instants et ça nous donne un petit aperçu de comment vivent les gens ici. Je trouve que c’est très intéressant et c’est une « coutume » qui serait chouette d’avoir chez nous aussi. A côté de ça, on dirait que les gens partagent avec autrui tout ce qui leur passent par la tête. Par exemple, quand on est arrivé à l’aéroport, le douanier nous a parlé pendant toute la durée du contrôle. Il nous a dit qu’il venait de recevoir un texto mais qu’il ne pouvait pas y répondre, il ne comprenait pas pourquoi on lui écrivait quand il était au travail, ensuite il a dit qu’il prenait un nouveau chewing gum car il en avait besoin d’un frais. Quand on était dans la file d’attente pour monter sur la Coit Tower, une employée est venue nous dire de rester bien sur la gauche et elle a continué à nous parler en chantant. On a vraiment pas l’habitude de discuter comme ça avec des inconnus et c’est un peu déconcertant au début. Mais après on s’habitue et je trouve que ça rend les échanges humains bien plus cool.

Quant à nous, on continue notre long week-end à Las Vegas. Cette ville est assez fascinante, on dirait qu’on est dans un parc d’attraction géant ! Je ne sais pas où regarder tellement il y a de choses à voir partout.

Here is my last post about San Francisco. This trip is the first one on the USA and I’m really enjoying it. It was a pleasure to discover how american people are making small talk all the time. We really don’t do that in Switzerland or in France and I think it’s too bad. Well I know that is a little superficial, when someone asks you if you’re ok it don’t really mean that he cares about you but human contacts are more friendly this way. When we jump into an uber or when we arrive in a restaurant, people always ask how we are doing, where do we come from, what are we doing in America, we talk about everything and nothing for a few minutes and then we all go back to our lives. Besides it looks like people share everything they have on their mind with anybody. For exemple, when we arrived at the airport, the customs officer told us that he has just received a texto but he couldn’t answer it now, that he doesn’t understand why people send him texto when he is at work, then he said that he has to take a fresh chewing gum. It was funny. At the Coit Tower, an employee came to ask us to stay well on the left while we were queuing and then she continues to talk to us singing. We are really not used to talk with strangers like this and it’s a little bit baffling at first. But we get used to it really quickly and human contacts are definitely more cool and nice in this way.

We are still in Las Vegas enjoying our time here. This city is so fascinating, it’s like we are in an huge amusement park ! I don’t know how to look, there are so many things to see everywhere.
